CLIENT OF THE MONTH: ROAD SCIENCE

We love to celebrate our clients, and firmly believe that your success is our success. That’s why we want to shine a light on the awesome people we partner with. This issue, we’ve chosen Road Science, a company that’s turning the concept of traditional roading products and services on its head through (as the name suggests) science.

Road Science is committed to advancing the pavements industry through innovative products and services that are developed and supported by engineering science. As they say, “Where you see a road, we see an opportunity to do something different”.

If you weren’t looking for it, you could easily miss their world-class research and development facility, located in Bayfair, Mount Maunganui. But, while their premise might fly under the radar, their work is getting noticed at a national and now even a global level.

Their team are constantly pushing the envelope to increase the quality and sustainability of the products that go into making and fixing our roads, meaning greater cost efficiencies and longer-lasting products. For example, they are leading the way by putting waste plastics into their mixes (PlasMix), working alongside national and local government departments to achieve work that has never been done before. Behind their products is the strongest team of experts and thought-leaders in the industry, who are involved throughout the whole of a product’s life – from manufacturing and delivery of bitumen, through to laboratory services and pavement design. Some of these include people Dr Greg Arnold (Principle Pavement Engineer) and Darcy Rogers (Technical Development Manager, who leads a team of R&D experts). The Road Science team is driven by a belief that there can be improvement, and through their people and processes they are leading the charge in meeting customers’ needs, providing innovative products that will help ensure better pavement outcomes – now and into the future.  

“We are constantly pushing the envelope to increase the quality and sustainability of our products, meaning greater cost efficiencies and longer-lasting products,” says Marketing Co-ordinator Sarah Moorcroft. A big part of Road Science’s work involves collaboration with customers to identify solutions for challenging road surfacing and construction situations. We’ve been fortunate to have partnered with Road Science on a number of projects to assist with their customer needs and help tell the Road Science story – including a Product Matrix and supporting online tool for customers to easily identify what they need for their roading problem. Plus, they’re just a really nice group of people to work with and always make our job a lot of fun!
