NEWS / EVENTS

In 2020 the digital landscape has evolved considerably. With the large number of Content Management System (CMS) and click-and-install website options, it is no longer as necessary to use code to create, update and maintain websites.

Because of this, we often see a number of web best practices fall by the wayside, which can have huge impacts on your website’s SEO. So, how do you keep your SEO healthy in 2020? Here are three quick tips to get you started.

1. CHECK YOUR META TAG HEALTH

Meta tags not only act as a guide for your online users, but also provide a content road map for search engines. So what do your meta tags look like and when was the last time they were checked and updated?

After checking all meta titles, descriptions and images tags, ensure they are unique, make sense and contain keywords. It is also important to implement a best practice document for adding new pages and images, to ensure SEO is always top of mind when making alts to the site. Making these updates as you go saves time and headaches down the track. Check out this image for an example.

2. CONTENT IS KING!

In 2020 content is king! What does your content say? Is it relevant? Does it contain relevant keywords? Do you update it regularly?

After examining and updating body copy, it is important to implement a news or blog post. This type of content allows you to inject new, relevant keywords into the website regularly. This also creates content for sharing across social, resulting in more clicks and a better domain score.

3. TAKE ADVANTAGE OF GOOGLE 'S SEO TOOLS

Google has developed a number of free tools to make SEO easier for users. The two most important tools are:

  • Google My Business: Lists your business on Google Maps, and acts as a credibility vote from Google. Make sure this is set up and optimised.
  • Google Search Console: This platform helps you monitor, maintain and troubleshoot your site's presence in Google Search results.
